The Power of Questions

There is no doubt that we all desire to get the correct answers in life, but how can we achieve this?

We must learn how to use the power of questions.

A Thought

A question will get you an answer. A good question will get you an explanation. The right question will get you a story. Stories often lead to the right answers and more.

Asking the right questions is essential because it gives you both an answer and a better understanding of the world.

A Truth

When you ask the right questions, you enhance the quality of your relationships.

When you ask the right questions, you discover the right career path.

When you ask the right questions, you solve the problems you face daily.

Be humble enough to admit you do not know. Be curious enough to start learning. This is how one starts to use the power of questions to their benefit.

An Application

What makes a good question?

Is there a better question?

Curiosity

Curiosity is the unusual interest in something or someone.

A Thought

Humility + Commitment = Curiosity

Humility is the ability to admit there is always room for improvement.

Commitment is an intentional effort (to learn something new).

The 'secret' ingredient to growth is curiosity. The 'secret' ingredient to curiosity is humility. Want to grow? Stay curious, stay humble.

A Truth

"You aren't learning anything when you're talking." - Lyndon B. Johnson

Developing curiosity requires that one must be willing to listen more than they speak.

An Application

How often do I listen to understand rather than to respond?

What can I start doing to listen better?

Managing the Ego

Ego is the Latin word for "I". Ego is defined as one's sense of self-esteem and opinion of self.

How do we manage the ego? How do I manage myself?

A Thought

There is nothing wrong with saying "yes" to your needs, but if it comes at the cost of others; there is a problem.

Saying yes to our needs almost comes automatically, but saying yes to the needs of others is a trait that needs to be developed.

To manage the ego, one must consistently say, "we first", instead of "me first."

A Truth

Taking care of others' needs does not mean we should neglect ourselves, but when we only take care of our needs, we often neglect others.

By taking care of others' needs, we often take care of our own needs too.

An Application

How often do I put the needs of others before myself?

What one thing can I do for someone else today?
