Money Talks
(Based on a conversation I had with an older gentleman several months ago. These are some of the words he said...)
A Thought
Money has a voice, and money is always talking.
Money says:
"Spend on this, spend on that."
"You can always get more of me."
"You can afford that; you can afford a lot of that."
Or money says:
"You can't afford this."
"You can't get more of me."
"Don't spend on this, don't spend on that."
Money is a reflection of self--Kind or mean, generous or greedy, disciplined or indisciplined.
Whatever you are and however you perceive the world, that is the voice that money will talk to you through.
A Truth
"Money talks to everyone."
Money talks differently to everyone because everyone wants something different.
Being able to control your money comes from the ability to control yourself.
"If you don't work on yourself, your money will talk you into ruin."
"Money talks to everyone, but not everyone can talk back to their money."
Talking back to your money is done by giving your money a task, a purpose, or a plan.
Money is a tool. Whether it has a plan or not, it will find its way to work.
An Action
What is your money telling you?
What reflection of self is your money showing you?
What plans have you made for your money?
What is one thing you can start working on to improve your relationship with money?
Working With What You Have
A Thought
If you are not able to give your best with what you currently have, you will not be able to give your best when you have everything you currently want. If giving your best is determined by what you have, then you will never be able to give your best because you will never have enough.
A Truth
You always have something to work with if you are grateful for what you have. You will never have enough to work with if you are ungrateful for what you have.
An Action
What do I have that I can currently work with?
What do I have that I need to be more grateful for?
Actions vs Outcomes
A Thought
When your efforts are focused on taking the right actions, the outcomes are often a byproduct.
For example: If you commit to reading a few pages every day, you will eventually finish a book, many books. If your focus is only on finishing a book, two things may happen; you may finish the book but feel drained by the thought of reading another one, or you may never finish the book because the outcome seems unachievable.
A Truth
Seasonal performance is a result of focusing on the outcome, but sustained performance is a result of focusing on the right actions.
An Action
What am I more focused on, actions or outcomes?
What are the right actions I need to focus on (to achieve my desired outcomes)?
