"Perfection is the enemy of progress" - Winston Churchill

Progress is only measured through action; and that is the thought of the day.

Have you ever planned to start a project, call a friend, or start reading a new book, and yet you have never gotten to it? If you answered "Yes", then you are in good company.

In my own life, I have come to find out that one of the causes of this modern and quite common disease known as procrastination is planning.

Yes...I said planning, over-planning to be specific. As strange and as uncommon as that may sound, I have come to realize that planning can often be a big time-waster.

When you come to think about it, a lot of the things we want to get done can actually get done, if we simply just do them. Now, that's not to say that planning is not important, but it is to bring to your awareness how planning can actually be a hindrance in some instances.

The funny thing about planning; over-planning specifically, is that it can make you feel like you have actually completed or made progress with a task, just because you have thought about it. Does that make sense? If it doesn't, read it again until it makes sense. Maybe another angle of looking at that will help. One con of planning is that, just the mere thought of what you have set out to accomplish can be more tiring that actually doing the task.

To make it more simpler, for example; when you just do the dishes, as opposed to thinking or planning of doing the dishes, the workload seems lighter, achievable, and not that stressful.

Point being, if it is something within your control (excluding external influences or parties), do it or get started on it. I know it is much easier said than done, but most times we get more done before we actually say it.

In my case, I never knew or thought that putting out a blog could be such a simple 3-step process.

Think It. Write It. Share It.

Honestly speaking, I never set out to write a blog, the idea literally just came to me over the last one hour or so.

Here's how; I was sitting down, planning to plan my week out (yes...that a whole lot of planning, I know), and I got lost in a YouTube rabbit hole. After wasting time for about forty-minutes, I told myself, " You know, if you had just done it (my task) immediately, you could have been doing something else (my next task) after this (my current task). At that point I thought to myself, "that would make a good blog post".

And now here we are.

I've done it.

Progress is only measured through actions.

Think It. Write It. Share It.

Progress.

Like it Jake....and how true. Over planning causes delay in getting the actual task done. Asante. Anan!
